Construction Superintendent
MAC Construction Group located in Portland, OR has an immediate opening for a highly skilled and motivated Construction Superintendent. This role will support projects in multiple States (including Washington and Oregon) with a primary focus in the general commercial market sector. Prospective candidates shall have a thorough working knowledge of construction as it relates to all disciplines and phases of construction in both new construction and rehabilitation construction.
Position Responsibilities
- Monitoring construction schedules and assisting with questions from vendors, suppliers & manufacturers for a wide variety of construction projects.
- Reviewing plans/specifications and other contract documents to identify, communicate and resolve errors, omissions, code violations and design inadequacies.
- Conducting continuous quality control checks with respect to all aspects of the construction process.
- Conduct punch walks and develop and maintain punch lists.
- Investigating documentation for change orders and recommend corrective action.
- Conduct pre-construction meetings with Design Team and Client.
- Communicating daily with Company leadership.
- Coordinate all onsite scheduling of all subcontractors and suppliers.
- Coordinating all required inspections and required testing.
- Conducting weekly safety meetings.
- Participate in weekly Client and Design Team meetings onsite.
- Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings.
- Coordination with respect to receiving inventorying and storing of all site deliveries.
Candidate Requirements
- Must possess 4-5+ years of direct construction superintendent experience with a preferred specific focus the general commercial market sector.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information in documented RFI’s.
- Proven track record of highly effective negotiating skills with Subcontractors and Clients.
- Proven track record of effectively working with Clients, Subcontractors, Suppliers, Architects, Engineers, City Officials.
- Proven ability to coordinate very fast paced construction schedules
- 10-hour OSHA certification required, 30-hour certificate (preferred).
- Excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Proficiency in plan reading.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Self-motivated, self-starter, with a proven track record to manage time effectively and hitting deadlines consistently.
- Highly organized, efficient, detail oriented and accurate.
- Candidate shall possess the ability to anticipate and account for potential quality, safety, productivity and schedule implications throughout the entire course of construction.
- Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if circumstances require
- Candidate will need to have the ability to travel if required to jobs sites as needed (Minimal Travel Anticipated for this Position).
Physical Requirements
- Must be capable of walking 20,000 steps per day
- Must be able to lift / carry 75-100 lbs.
- Must be able to climb ladder to 40’ height
Position Software Requirements
Candidates should be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word MS Excel, MS Power Point, MS Project, MS Outlook, MS Teams), Adobe Professional, Zoom, Blue Beam Revu (Preferred) and ProCore (Preferred).
Preferred Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering preferred but not required.
- Forklift Certification (Preferred).
- Rigging Certification (Preferred).
- Previous construction field experience.
